Clocking in at under two minutes, Norwegian collective GiddyGang have served up an impressive slice of retro hip-hop in the form of ‘Sour’. The group of artists are each talented in their own rights, but as the silky smooth grooves of this track combine with the lead vocal of Sarah Pettersen and rap of Vuyo, it becomes clear why they’ve allowed their worlds to combine. On his verse, Vuyo explains: “Everything coincided with the George Floyd-trial and a book about the fatal killing of Benjamin Hermansen here in Norway that just got released all in the same time period, so I had all these thoughts going through my mind at the time. So I just tried to abbreviate my adolescence into a verse and get those feelings of my chest.” Make sure to give this exceptional track a listen. -Dan Peeke
